My name is George Cook. I am in my early forties. I am a African American man married with one child. I served in the army from 91 to 94 after a year of college at Virginia State University an African American college where I developed my love for writing.
I am proud and honored to be a trustee on The Hillside High Scholarship Fund. The board gives out small scholaships to local kids to help with college cost and to reward their academic excellence.
I am also an NAACP member
I am a local PTA member at my daughters school, Calvin Coolidge.
I am an avid sports fan who coaches young kids ( 10-14 year olds. ) in intramural basketball and football as a way to keep the little knuckleheads out of trouble.
In 2009 on 04/18/09 my rec league basketball team the Senior lakers won the league championship. Congrats boys. The flag football team I coach the Hillside Giants won the town championship in November 2005 due to my excellent coaching...(smile.) My favorite teams are the NY Football Giants and my beloved Syracuse Orange Basketball Team. 2003 NCAA champs just in case you didn't know.

Cook has made giving back a personal mission. As a soldier, community activist, political advocate, coach, husband, and father, George provides support to those around him. Most recently, he has created a petition to increase the coverage of missing Black women on cable & broadcast networks, in the hopes that more exposure will lead to finding these women and reuniting them with their loved ones,
04/18/09. Congratulations to the youth basketball team I coach the Senior Lakers. We won the Hillside Rec League championship in an exciting overtime thriller 69-66 and we did it as the 4th seed in a 4 team tournament. Congrats!
